Undergraduate Coaching Certificate Requirements
The Undergraduate Coaching Certificate Program is a non-transcripted certificate program. (The certificate will not appear on your Texas A&M Transcript.) The certificate will be granted solely at the discretion of the Thornton-McFerrin Coaching Academy.
The requirements below must be 100% completed prior to graduation to earn the coaching certificate. There is not a fee to apply or enter the program, however, some requirements listed below must be paid by the participant.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT
- Complete coursework related to coaching --
- KINE 215 (3 credits) - "Fundamentals of Coaching" plus 2 additional "Coaching Of" courses. Options include:

KINE 334 (2 credits) - Coaching in Personal Training (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 312 (2 credits) - Coaching of Baseball (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 314 (2 credits) - Coaching of Soccer (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 317 (2 credits) - Coaching of Football (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 321 (2 credits) - Coaching of Volleyball (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 335 (2 credits) - Coaching in Group Fitness (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 351 (2 credits) - Coaching of Basketball (Pre-Req = 215)

KINE 355 (2 credits) - Coaching of Track (Pre-Req = 215)
- CPR/First Aid Certification - Conducted through TMCA ($80)
- Attend 4 Coaching Academy Workshops per year
- Online Child Protection Training

Experience
- Complete 40 hours field experience coaching primary sport.
- Complete 20 hours field expereince coaching secondary sport.
Networking
- Join Student Coaches Association (SCA) and remain in good standing ($40 annual dues).
- Attend 3 SCA events per semester (monthly meetings, student seminar, socials, etc.).
Other Requirements
- Meet with Career Development Coordinator once per academic year.
- Sign and submit Talent Release Form.
